Are you using your online player-ID ?
I had the same problem untill I used Emperor (my player ID)

where did you download Blockout II ? if it came with some pre-installed ubunto package, chances are that you cannot upload highscores. thats because packages made by other people than jean luc do not have the highscore upload module (for security reasons). only the linux version downloadable on this site has the upload module.
so please try to download the linux binary from this site and try again.
